JulieAnn,
Hello! Some antibiotics can affect your heart rhythm. Doctors usually order EKG’s while on these medications.
This is a question for your pulmonologist and cardiologist to discuss. Your doctors will determine if the potential benefits of your current medications outweigh the risks involved.
Hi JulieAnn,
Yes, watchful waiting is an option to consider with your health care provider's supervision. This is not the same as ignoring the issue. Typically, under watchful waiting, you continue a full course of daily airway clearance exercises, periodic sputum samples, ct scans, and check-ups to monitor the infection's symptoms, including cough, fatigue, weight loss, night sweats, etc.
Yes, I am currently on a course of watchful waiting.

I'm having issues w my medicine it's causing me heart problems. So I'm considering just watching and waiting. My symptoms are mild. I'd rather not have a heart attack. I'll see what my dr says. I'm thankful for this site and all the imput and encouragement.
JulieAnn,
You are most welcome. We are here to support you on your journey. I am glad that your symptoms are mild. I understand your concerns. Please keep us posted after your doctor visits.
I am approaching the third year of watchful waiting when I was told I needed to treat the NTM with three antibotics for two years, and, after much research, decided not to do it. I do ACT, nebulizing, and exercise. I am 83 years old and on 24/7 oxygen, but manage to get out and about a few times a week.

Ronbo,
Hello! Thank you for sharing your uplifting news. Watchful waiting , not taking multiple antibiotics is a great option for some patients. I am so glad that airway clearance, nebulizing , exercise and oxygen are enabling you to continue to be active, getting out and about a few times a week.
Have a wonderful day! Katie
