Niamhy Check-In 07/21/2025
I have just started using my nebuliser using 3% sodium chloride. It is making me feel nauseous. Has anyone ever experienced this side effect. I am only doing it once a day now in the evening but the adverse syptoms can linger. It does help me to cough up more mucus which is good.

Niamhy,
Hello! Sodium chloride irritated my throat but never made me nauseous.
Hi Niamhy.....I do not get nauseous after nebulizing sodium chloride. It sometimes makes me cough and sneeze but it helps me get the mucus out
Maybe it is the NTM that is making me feel ill. I am not on any antibiotics. My ID consultant is adopting a watch and wait approach. My next appointment is on the 31st. So annoying, feeling ill as I am trying to enjoy my summer holidays! Thank you for replying
I am glad that your appointment is coming up soon. Do you have any gastrointestinal issues that may be contributing to this issue?
I don't get nauseous but makes my throat irrated as well. I eat a teaspoon full of manuka honey to soothe. Are you waiting to nebulize 2 hours after you eat?
I take manuka honey too. I do not leave 2 hours after eating before I nebulise. I will try that today. I suffer from GERD but have never felt ill with it. My whole system went to pot when I took the big 3 for my NTM. I am very careful about what I eat and I drink lots of water. I have a salty taste all the time now since I starting using the nebuliser.
I look forward to hearing if there is a difference in your feeling nausea. Hopefully, the 2 hour timeframe will make a difference for you.
Many people have “ silent acid reflux “, do not feel any symptoms.
The normal saline leaves a salty taste since it a salt product.
