marsrocket Check-In 07/21/2025
Lately I have been using music therapy to boost my mood and calm my worries about health concerns and stinkin' mortality. In the morning between coughing storms I sing uplifting songs like Sunshine on My Shoulders or Here Comes the Sun. Besides cheering me up, singing loudly appears to help free up mucus in my throat or upper airways. I also recently purchased a kalimba thumb piano. Haven't learned any songs yet, but the sounds are definitely soothing. Most of them sell for under $25. Do you sing any songs out loud or play an instrument? If so, let's start a band, ha ha.

Thatβs so great to hear! Iβm really glad youβre finding ways to help how youβre feelingβand that breath-work is working well for you! I used to sing along to music to get my voice ready for the day back when I worked the info line. It helped warm up my throat and made talking all day much easierβplus, it was a lot of fun! I think we need to recruit for the band, and I expect we can get TimDβ to join in!
Thanks, Brandon. I think there are many benefits to singing out loud, physical and mental and possibly spiritual. We will need a fun name for the band.
I would just the band but I canβt sing π€, lol. I always wished that I had a voice- the nuns didnβt allow me to be in the choir many moons ago.
I am glad that singing and your thumb piano are providing healthy outlets to assist you with coping. I had never heard of a thumb piano before, thank you for posting a picture. We all need to find a therapeutic way to cope . Letβs see who else has a voice and can join the band . π€ππ
I'll sing------But you won't want to hear it!!!!!!! I was a sound man for a band 40 years ago so that will be my job!!.......We can call the band-"The Breathers"π
Das,
I am sure that you have great stories from being in a band.
The β Breathersβ sound like a great name. Another thought- how about the β Lungersβ?
π
"Lungers" is good too........How about the "Beatles"-----nobody ever used that nameπππ΅
I like "The Breathers"! I'm learning how to play my ukelele so I can make some "noise" with that! π
Tim,
Great Ukelele. You can play a Dooby Brotherβs song for the band. Luv the fun being stirred up. Laughter, humor is the best medicine when dealing with any health issues. Laughter increases the release of endorphins, lightens the stress hormone cortisol that is released when we are facing medical issues. Letβs try to find some good humor in each and every day. ππππ
Good luck learning the ukulele. A possible modification on the band name, The BE Breathers.
Cool name!
Letβs get the show on the road!

Let's keep this momentum moving!!
Paul would have loved this conversation- gone but never forgotten. Paul had a great sense of humor. We must believe that he is rooting for us to find more humor and joy in our everyday lives despite the challenges that we are facing.
The Bronch-O's!
Great name- it may get confused with the Denver Broncos football team, lol.
