Has anyone ever gotten to the point where your body feels drained and malnutritioned , weak and exhuasted? If so how did you handle it.

Jenifer,
Hello! You are not alone- many of us have felt complete exhaustion when dealing with a NTM infection. Mycobacterium can rob us of our nutrients. The infection and inflammation can cause exhaustion. Medications can make some patients tired. Additionally, I don’t know where you are located but recent heatwaves can add to the exhaustion in some patients. It is recommended to have more frequent, smaller meals with protein at each meal. The amount of daily protein should be half of your body weight . Drink when you are thirsty , avoid getting dehydrated. I recall days when I was so exhausted that the least little task seemed monumental.
Below is a YouTube video on Nutrition for NTM patients.
We are here for you. Katie
Thankyou so much. The heat definitely got me. My biggest problem is the vomiting and nausea. Im loosing weight fast. That don't help. I'll definitely watch the video and thank you so much !
Jenifer,
You are most welcome. Have you communicated these symptoms to your doctor? Ask for a referral to a registered dietician to assist you? Many insurance plans cover the costs of a registered dietician.
I see my IDD on the 6th. It will be addressed
Jenifer,
Glad to read. We need to enlist the expertise of dietitians and other members of the BNTM healthcare team as needed.
