đ§Hydration = Airway Clearanceâs Best Friendđ§
Letâs face it--mucus doesnât move itself. đ
Thatâs where hydration comes in. Staying well-hydrated helps thin mucus, making it easier to clear (yep, even during those not-so-glamorous airway clearance sessions).
The COPD Foundation reminds us that water supports better lung function and helps prevent mucus from becoming thick and sticky. And over at National Jewish Health, theyâve got a helpful reminder that your heart loves hydration too--dehydration can make your heart work harder, especially in the heat.
A few simple tips to stay ahead of the mucus monster:
đ° Sip water all day--donât wait until you're thirsty
đ Snack on hydrating fruits like watermelon and citrus
đ Add a splash of flavor with lemon, cucumber, or mint
â Cut back on caffeine and alcohol when you can
Whether youâre doing your airway clearance, out in the heat, or just trying to feel a little better today--waterâs got your back.

Water đŚ has your back for sure! Dehydration leads to a multitude of unwanted issues . Summer is certainly the time to listen to your body and get the fluids your body needs. We donât want our heart to work any harder than it already does.â¤â¤â¤
